Oban, Arrochar and Strathclyde Police Mountain Rescue Teams were involved in a search for a missing 53-year-old man who failed to return home from climbing Ben Buidhe, Glen Fyne, the previous evening.

Assisted by Strathclyde Police helicopter, the teams searched the hill and the man was found lying in a gully beside the main walker’s path by one of the Arrochar teams. He had spinal, skull and leg fractures as a result of a fall. Rescue 177 helicopter from HMS Gannet, Prestwick helped the team lift the man from the gulley and took him to hospital in Paisley.
