The team were called out to search for a hillwalker who had slipped and broken his ankle whilst descending Ben Cruachan. Most members were at Taynuilt Highland games selling beef burgers to raise funds for the team when they received the callout. Friends and family were called into take over the stall whilst the team set off to search for the hillwalker. Oban police obtained further information from the casualty via mobile phone and he was quickly located at the bottom of some rocky slabs below Cruachan peak. Rescue 177 Sea King from HMS Gannet, Prestwick attended the scene but could not reach the casualty due to low cloud. They were then re-tasked to another incident. Meanwhile Oban team assisted by Strathclyde police and Arrochar team members reached the casualty on foot, administered medical treatment, and then lowered him in a stretcher to a waiting ambulance at the back of Cruachan Dam. The casualty was later sent to Paisley for specialist treatment of an ankle fracture. The team returned to finish their fundraising activities at Taynuilt Games having demonstrated how their hard earned funds are spent.
