Callout – Rescue Man with Fractured Ankle – Ben Sguillard – 11 October 2010

The team were called out at 14.15 hours to assist with rescue of a 64 year old man who had slipped and fractured his ankle on Ben Sguillard. The team were stood down after the casualty was picked up by Rescue 100 (Stornoway Coastguard Helicopter) and flown to hospital. All stood down and returned to base by 1800 hrs.

Search - Mother and Son lost in forest - 31 August 2010

The team were called out at 2035hrs to assist police locate a mother and son lost in a forest near Dalavich. The pair could hear police car sirens but couldn't find a way out of the forest. They got to a clearing and were told to stay there. When the team arrived a police helicopter was on the scene and had located them and was in process of transferring them to Dalavich. The team were stood down at 2131hrs returning to the post by 2230hrs.

 
Search - Lost couple on Beinn Dorain - 22 August 2010

The team were called out at 0042hrs to search for 2 people lost on descent from summit of Beinn Dorain having arrived there at around 2200.

The team arrived at Bridge of Orchy at 0145 and spoke to couple on hill by mobile phone. Both were OK but very cold and running on spot to keep warm. As there is no phone reception on the north side of Beinn Dorain it looked likely they were still somewhere between the col and summit on ridge or off towards Meall Garbh.

An Oban team set off to walk to that area and by 0315 heard whistles then located the pair at 0325. After attempts to warm them up the team started to walk the pair off the hill. Once day light arrived Rescue 177 helicopter was able to fly to meet the party, uplifted the missing people, and took them to Glasgow for a checkup.

The team returned to their vehicles by 0600 and drove back home to bed.

 
Search - Walkers late return from Beinn Dorain - 22 August 2010

The team were called out at 2000hrs to search for  2 people and 2 dogs overdue at Bridge of
Orchy hotel. They had left a route card at the hotel detailing their intended route up Beinn Dorain and nearby hills and expected to return at 1800hrs.

After repeated attempts to contact the missing people's mobile phone, and a search for their car, the police finally made contact with them at 2100 hrs to discover they had come back down off the hill at lunch time and headed home without reporting back to the hotel. The team were stood down as they reached Bridge of Orchy to begin the search.

Search - Missing Walker - Isle of Mull - 31 July 2010

The team were called out on Saturday 31st July 2010 to search for a missing Male who had gone walking on Mull hills by himself and had not been heard from since Thursday. His intention was
to climb Ben More. After a run round the base of Ben More Mull Police found the man walking on the public road having safely descended from the hills. The team were stood down before boarding the ferry to begin the search.
