Oban MRT recently held our annual training weekend at Rothiemurchas Lodge on the edge of the Lairig Ghru in the Cairngorms. The weather was very good to us and all 20 members who attended enjoyed long mountaineering days on the high hill's.

Saturday morning dawned clear and frosty and saw several teams leave early for the high corries of Braeriach and Cairntoul with two groups ascending different ridges in the corries and one group climbing a gully high in Corrie Bhrocain on Braeriach. Another team ascended the Fiacal ridge in the Northern Corries and then headed out to Beinn Macdhui.

Sunday was again a lovely frosty morning with teams heading onto the Cairngorm - Carn Etchachan - Beinn Macdui areas by various routes. Another team climbed Collies Ridge on Lurchers Crag in the Lairig Ghru.

There were lots of tired and hungary people in the vehicles as we headed back west on Sunday evening, however any thoughts of rest and food were soon shattered as the callout came in as we headed down towards Roy Bridge.......
