Oban Mountain Rescue Team is an entirely voluntary organisation. All mountain rescue teams are supported by the Scottish executive and receive an annual grant from them. But we still rely heavily on fundraising to equip and run our team. We recieve some grant aid from the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland towards training costs, but otherwise we rely on charitable donations and fundraising. Our annual running costs are in the region of £25,000 per year.

If you would like to send us a donation, please send it to the following address:

The Treasurer, Oban Mountain Rescue Team, Mountain Rescue Post, Sinclair Drive, Oban

By indicating that you are a UK tax payer and stating that you would like to treat your donation as Gift Aid enables us to to reclaim 20% of your donation from the inland revenue.

As mentioned above, it takes a lot of hard work to generate the level of funding required to run the Team. The following sections outline different ways in which we fundraise.

From time to time the Team apply to various grant giving bodies and organisations. This process has been most useful in seeking funding for specific purposes including providing safety equipment for team members.
